Just a quick post here...in the past 24 hours I've made zucchini brownies, whole wheat bread, egg salad, buttercream frosting, and pizza crust, all while taking care of 3 preschoolers (2 just part of the day) and an infant. So, when I realized I didn't have pizza or pasta sauce for the pizza crust, I really didn't want to run to the store. So I tried tomato soup.
I took a can of condensed soup, added basil, oregano and garlic to it, and that's it! The sauce tasted delicious on the pizza! It was a little sweet, but still good topped with cheese and green peppers. Its an "in a pinch" winner!
thank you for this, i was just wondering if i could use this tomato soup to make pizza, so glad to know it will work out and i'll get the final "i told you so"
ReplyDeletei added a little salt and it tasted a lot better
ReplyDeleteGoing to try it tonight!
ReplyDeleteI've been doing this for a while now and both my husband and I like it almost better than most pizza sauces. I usually heat up the sauce a bit to blend in the herbs and spices, let it cool and spread it on pizza. It's really good and saves a trip to town or spending money on over priced sauces.
ReplyDeletetrying this tonight! i usually make sauce homemade but forgot tomatoes!
ReplyDeleteI didn't feel like going to store for pizza type sauce for stuffed peppers. I'm going to try this recipe. Thank you
ReplyDeleteDefinitely works well. I also added some salt, crushed red pepper, parm cheese from a shaker, and a little but of juice from a jar of olives and it cut the sweetness considerably.
ReplyDeleteI thought you could and just ad spices. I like it sweet, it's more like marinara sauce. But thanks for confirming it works great and is much cheaper than buying jars of sauce.
ReplyDeleteThaanks great blog post
